Australia’s Bush Babies Win the Hearts of Collectors

Due to the overwhelming success of the inaugural Australian Bush Babies collector coin series, The Perth Mint is pleased to announce its sequel – Australian Bush Babies II.

Similarly inspired by the adorable young of Australia’s iconic animals, the follow-up series will commence with a release which capture’s the inquisitive nature of a beautiful baby kookaburra in colour.  The reverse design of the coin also features a ‘friendly’ Australian insect and delicately frosted representations of Australian bush flowers.
Native to Australia, the kookaburra is part of the kingfisher family of birds and is best known for raucous call, which sounds uncannily like human laughter.

Each of the five coins which comprise Australian Bush Babies II is struck from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in superb proof quality.

Scheduled to be unveiled throughout the next 12 months, the future releases in the series will showcase endearing designs of a baby possum, platypus, echidna and wombat.

“The original Australian Bush Babies series proved so popular among collectors that each coin sold out in record time after its release”, said Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director, Ron Currie.

“With more delightful designs now available, we expect animal lovers from around the world will be equally enthusiastic about this new series”, he added.

Issued as Australian legal tender, the obverse of each coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2012 year-date and the monetary denomination.

Priced at an affordable $67.50, every individual coin is presented in a gift box within a themed illustrated shipper and is accompanied with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Only 10,000 of each design will be released for sale worldwide.  Australian Bush Babies coins are available from The Perth Mint at 310 Hay Street in East Perth, on toll free  1800 098 817 (Australia), +61 8 9421 7218 (International) or at www.perthmint.com.au   Purchasers can also check availability of the coins at their local coin dealer or Australia Post outlet.
