Date Announced for Issue of New Swiss 20-Franc Note

The second note of the ninth series of Swiss Franc banknotes, printed on Landqart’s Durasafe® substrate, the CHF 20, will be released this year. The note will be formally presented to the public at a press conference on Wednesday, 10 May 2017, and will enter regular circulation one week later, on 17 May 2017.

At the time of publication, one Swiss Franc (CHF) trades for approx. $1.01 USD.

Central Bank to Launch New $20 Banknote

The Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) will issue the country’s new $20 banknote, the third in a series of new currency notes introduced since 2013.

The new $20 banknote includes new features, dimensions and sophistication in terms of banknote design, durability and security.

In a statement released from Central Bank, the Bank announced that Solomon Islanders started using the new $20 banknote on the 23rd of January after its official launching on Friday 20th January, 2017.

“Central Bank is happy to unveil and launch Solomon Islands’ third denomination in the new banknote family printed by De La Rue. The new $20 dollar banknotes will be available from the commercial banks as from Monday 23rd January 2017.

“Over the course of the next two-weeks the Bank will engage in various awareness activities to assist with the introduction and smooth transition, of the use of the new $20 banknote.”

The Bank continues to reiterate that the decision to introduce new notes into circulation is mainly to improve the durability of our bank notes in circulation and counter threats from counterfeiting.

At the time of publication, one Solomon Islands Dollar (SBD) trades for approx. $0.13 USD.
