The 2017 Romania 100 Lei Gold Coin features a bridge on the obverse and the Statue of Liberty on the reverse.

As of July 4, 2017, the National Bank of Romania put into circulation a gold coin dedicated to the anniversary of 20 years since the launch of the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States of America.

The coin has the following specifications:

  • Face value: lei 100
  • Metal: gold
  • Fineness: 900‰
  • Shape: round
  • Diameter: 21 mm
  • Weight: 6.452 g
  • Quality: Proof
  • Edge: milled

Obverse: the Cernavodă bridge, symbolic representation of communication and partnership, the inscription “ROMANIA”, the coat of arms of Romania, the face value “100 LEI” and the year of issue “2017”.

Reverse: partial depiction of the Statue of Liberty in New York and the inscription “PARTENERIATUL STRATEGIC ROMANIA-STATELE UNITE ALE AMERICII-1997”.

The gold coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by certificates of authenticity for the issue in Romanian, English and French. The certificates bear the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The mintage of this issue is 250 gold coins.

The selling price is lei 1,685.00, VAT excluded, per gold coin, including the certificate of authenticity.

The gold coins dedicated to the anniversary of 20 years since the launch of the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States of America are legal tender in the national territory of Romania.

The gold coins were put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
