On behalf of the entire Archives International Auctions team, welcome to the 40th auction we have held over the last 10 years. We are excited to offer close to 1,000 lots of numismatic material featuring additional gems from the Alexander I. Pogrebetsky Family Archives of rare Chinese banknotes as well as an impressive variety of U.S. and Worldwide Banknotes, Coins, and Scripophily.
Some of the many foreign highlights of the auction include over 200 lots of Chinese banknotes and coins; a $1 Deutsch-Asiatische Bank, 1907 “Peking” Branch rarity; a 1913-17, 2 Gold Fen, Russo-Asiatic Bank in Kuld’sha Chugchak & Kashgar issued rarity; a $50 Russo-Chinese Bank, 1909 “Shanghai” Branch Color Trial Specimen Banknote rarity – as well as numerous other Chinese banknote rarities.
Japan is represented by 25 coins from an old-time collection; A large group of Thomas De La Rue modern specimens are being offered with many never seen before in this format as well as essay varieties.
Additional Foreign coins include many Middle East coins from an advanced collector including rare varieties from Egypt; Iraq; Jordan; Kuwait; Palestine; Qatar as well as numerous worldwide coins.
Worldwide banknotes include desirable items from Canada; Danish West Indies; Bhutan; Malaysia and literally hundreds of rare and desirable notes rarely seen at auction.
