After 12 years of running the world coin department for Northeast Numismatics, James Ricks has launched a new company, Atlas Numismatics.
Founded in New York in 2013, Atlas Numismatics is a rare coin dealership with a particular focus on world coins of exceptional quality. We also buy and sell a select range of ancient and United States coins. Our aim is to serve clients who wish to buy and sell in a friendly and professional setting.
Atlas Numismatics president James Ricks gained his numismatic experience while working at Northeast Numismatics in Massachusetts for 18 years, including 14 years as director of the world coin department. During this time he participated in some of the most important world coin auctions, both domestically and abroad: John Jay Pittman, Eliasberg, Irving Goodman, Van Roekel, Samuel King, Bentley, Caballero de las Yndias, and Archer M. Huntington to name a few.
Mr. Ricks also helped form a number of significant private collections. Some rarities he has handled for clients include an uncirculated British Charles I 1644 Oxford mint Triple Unite, multiple 1839 Una and the Lion Victoria Five Pounds, several proof strikings of Russian platinum issues, and a very rare Japanese gold Kyoho Oban (circa 1725). We travel extensively to maintain our high standard of material; previous buying trips have led us to Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Ireland, San Marino, Belgium, and Japan.
Mr. Ricks has acted as a consultant to both collectors and dealers and keeps an active international travel schedule in search of new material.
Atlas maintains an inventory of rare and high-quality coins, primarily world issues from the Renaissance to modern times, with occasional selections of ancient, early medieval, and United States coinage. Interesting and choice issues in medallic art are also available.
Atlas is now offering items for sale on their website. Please visit www.atlasnumismatics.com for more information.
