The Finest Known 1913 Liberty Head Nickel – The Dr. William Morton-Smith Specimen graded Proof-66 (PCGS/CAC) will headline Stack’s Bowers Galleries Rarities Night Auction on Wednesday, August 15. This coin last sold in auction as part of our presentation of the Eliasberg Collection. At that sale it became the first coin to cross the $1 million mark, setting a world record for a rare coin. The Joel R. Anderson Collection of U.S. Paper Money, Part II – The landmark Part I offering earlier this year realized an astounding $7.9 million for 64 lots, including several notes which set new world records. Part II of the Joel R. Anderson Collection – the largest, finest and most complete collection of Large Size United States paper money in existence today – will headline our U.S. paper money offering on Thursday night, August 16.

The John Whitney Walter Collection – We are proud to offer additional pieces from the John Whitney Walter Collection, including ancient coins, federal United States coins, mint errors and paper money. In 1999 we sold his incredible collection of United States coins of 1796, a cabinet that earned him the title “Mr. 1796.”
