NGC-Graded World Coins to be Featured in Early May Daniel Frank Sedwick Auction

Gold rarities from a famous shipwrecked fleet are among the NGC-certified coins offered in the Daniel Frank Sedwick auction.

NGC-certified gold coins attributed to the famous 1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet will be among the rarities to be offered at upcoming online auctions by Daniel Frank Sedwick LLC. The fleet was carrying gold and silver when it wrecked in a hurricane near what is now Vero Beach, Florida, on its way from Cuba to Spain.

The coins include a 1705L H Peru 8 Escudos graded NGC MS 62 with an estimate of $15,000 to $30,000 (USD); a 1714/3L M Peru 8 Escudos graded NGC MS 62 estimated at $15,000 to $22,500 (USD); and a 1713L M Peru 8 Escudos graded NGC MS 62 with an estimate of $12,500 to $20,000 (USD).

Meanwhile, other coins from Latin America estimated to sell for amounts in the low five figures are among the top lots in the series of sales scheduled for May 2-3.

This Guatemala 8 Escudos with a bust of Ferdinand VI is graded NGC VF 35.

Two NGC-graded coins struck in Central America each have estimates of $15,000 to $22,500 (USD), according to Sedwick. They are a Guatemala 8 Escudos with a bust of Ferdinand VI,graded NGC VF 35, and a Honduras 1883 Gold 10 Pesos, graded NGC AU 50.

This 1832 Argentina 8 Escudos is graded NGC MS 62.

Also of particular note is an 1832 Argentina 8 Escudos graded NGC MS 62 that has an estimated sales price of $20,000 to $40,000 (USD).
