The Walton 1913 Liberty Nickel was thought to have been lost in a car crash in 1962. It was even thought that collector George Walton never owned a genuine example of this legendary rare coin.

The coin was rediscovered in 2003 in a publicity stunt that involved Mark Borckardt and Paul Montgomery.

Now ten years after confirming that the Walton nickel is indeed genuine the family has decided to sell the coin through Heritage Auctions.

Hear the story of how this coin was found and why it is being sold.
