Central Bank Announces 2016 Irish Coin Design Competition

Ireland_bankIn 2016, the Central Bank of Ireland will issue silver and gold proof coins to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising. The Central Bank published a newspaper advertisement on January 10, inviting artists and designers who would be interested in designing the coin to submit their Curriculum Vitae and samples or evidence of previous works for consideration.

Designers will be shortlisted based on their submissions by a panel of experts. The shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in the design competition and will receive a design brief, together with the technical specifications of the coin. Shortlisted candidates will receive a design fee, subject to compliance with the design brief provided. The winning candidate will receive a further payment in respect of the winning design.
