Civil war aficionados won’t want to miss spending time with the Nevada Civil War History Association, present all three days. The club will exhibit the recreation of a Confederate iron-clad battleship in one-third scale, CSS Virginia class, built by local members. The Confederate army built over 36 different designs of iron-clad boats, while the Union built about 60 of the Monitor class. Most were melted for scrap in WW II, except for one U.S.S. Monitor recovered in 2002. This first U. S. Navy ironclad warship, marked a turning point in military history and is featured as “Our Little Monitor” in Susan Trask’s seminar on civil war tokens on Saturday morning.

Members will appear in period dress at the show on Friday and Saturday for photo opportunities. Uniforms and dress designed to fit over clothes for iPhone portraits will be provided by this enthusiastic civil war club at no charge. Civil war memorabilia and educational exhibits will be displayed.

“The Vegas location seems to draw guests came from out of the country. We had attendees from Europe and Australia in the past and have pre-registrations for this show from Brazil, Canada and Singapore” relates Dawn Napolitan, CK Shows. “We are very excited about the new strip venue and a fantastic room rate! The Riviera is perfectly located for easy access from the Paradise side, plenty of parking for locals and positioned nicely for out of town visitors and exhibitors. We are thrilled to re-connect with the fabulous Las Vegas Strip, the roots of this ‘Coin Town,’ where up until the early 1970’s, silver dollars were still being played in slot machines.”
