from the Editors of CoinWeek….

CoinWeek is excited to announce the debut of a new bi-monthly column by legendary numismatist David T. Alexander. The focus of the column will be Alexander’s long and storied career as a numismatic writer and cataloger.

Alexander was born in Brooklyn, NY and has been an avid coin enthusiast since the age of nine. He has spent most of his professional life immersed in numismatics and is an expert cataloger with a specialty in world coins and medals.

A Life Member of the American Numismatic Association, Alexander has received numerous accolades over the course of his career, including the ANA’s Glenn B. Smedley Award and the Silver Medal of Merit. In 2013, Alexander was named ANA Numismatist of the Year.

Alexander will offer CoinWeek readers his unique insights as an auction cataloger and researcher. This is an area of numismatics not often seen by those outside of the major auction firms. Through his columns, he will invite readers to take a fascinating trip back in time to see the how the great collections were prepared for sale, while sharing interesting tidbits about the world’s most famous collectors.

As a consummate numismatic writer of the highest caliber, there’s no telling what Alexander will reveal.

We are so happy to have him.

David T. Alexander’s first column, entitled “How this Auction Cataloger ‘Got this Way'” will debut Thursday.
