This week on the CoinWeek Podcast, we talk to Daniel Frank Sedwick – numismatist, auctioneer, and owner of Daniel Frank Sedwick, LLC, the premier seller of cob and shipwreck treasure coins in the United States.
On May 15, Sedwick’s will auction a unique and historic regulated gold cob struck in Peru. The firm expects the coin, a cob 8 escudos dated 1741 and regulated by Joseph Edwards, Jr., to realize a price over $100,000. But Sedwick believes the coin’s historic connection to the American colonies transcends what will be the piece’s incredible hammer price.
We talk about the significance of this coin, cob coinage as a numismatic collectible, and what it’s like to specialize in numismatic treasure, all in this week’s episode.
