Business Burglary

Detectives with the Eagan, Minnesota Police Department are investigating a burglary which resulted in the theft of over $100,000 in coins. The suspects gained entry into the business and forced open a safe which contained a large amount of graded coins, gold and silver.

Stolen Coins

The following coins were stolen from the wholesale boxes of Bozarth Numismatics at the recent Whitman Baltimore Coin Show. The coins are all PCGS or NGC graded and images are available for all coins. A reward of $1500 is offered for any information on the theft of these coins.

Robbery/Murder

The Albemarle North Carolina Police Department is investigating the robbery of B&G Coins. The owner identified as Eldridge Roger Gibson 81 was shot during the incident and later died at a local hospital.
crime_murderSurveillance video shows a person entering the store close to closing and staying for approximately twenty minutes, and then driving off in a truck belonging to the victim. The truck was later found located deep in a park not too far from the coin shop

Burglary Suspects Arrested

In January and March of this year the Numismatic Crime Information Center assisted the Gurnee, IL Police Department in the investigation of two burglaries that occurred at Harbor Coins in Gurnee. On October 23, 2013 investigators concluded the 9 month investigation which resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of over $140,000 in coins, currency and jewelry.The suspects were also responsible for other burglaries in the Chicago Metropolitan area.
The recent e-mail sent out by NCIC on 10/17/13 requesting infomation on recovered property led to the identity of another victim related to this investigation.

Rosemont Hotel Room Burglary

Rosemont, IL police are investigating the theft of over $400,000 in banknotes and coins taken from a dealer attending the ANA and staying at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Rosemont. The dealer reported that some person or persons removed a safe containing the banknotes and coins from his hotel room.

Stolen: Banknotes from Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, China, Brazil and several American bank note proofs. Coins from Argentina, Venezuela, Spain, Poland, Italy and Eritrea.

Rare Argentina: Rio de la Plata 8 Reales 1813J PTS Provincias {Error Prorvincias) valued between $40-50,000

Also taken: Royal order from Cuba (order of Finlay) large breast star badge in silver and enamel, Order of Egypt a large breast star in silver and enamel.

Stolen/Lost FedEx Package

A FedEx package containing Obsolete notes is presumed to be stolen. The package was shipped from Tennessee to Oakland, California. Records indicate the package arrived in Oakland but was never delivered to the recipient.

BURGLARY – Marshalltown, Iowa

Marshalltown, Iowa police are investigating a burglary of a collector which resulted in the loss of over a quarter million dollars in gold coins and silver bars. One subject is in custody and three remain at large. A small amount of gold coins have been recovered. The suspects sold some of the silver in DesMoine, Iowa.

The suspects have been identified as:Christopher & Renae Mason. A third suspect identified as Giles Clark is also wanted but no photo is available.

The suspects are wanted for felony theft and burglary.If you come into contact with these subjects call 911.

BURGLARY – Sarasota Florida

At approximately 10:45pm ET on July 29th John Maben Rare Coins was the victim of a smash and grab. The suspects used a shotgun to break a glass window and entered the office.

They grabbed inventory from a cart that was in the office. It happened very quickly. The whole thing took less than 2 minutes. There were two or three people involved. One male approximately 6 foot 200 pounds and possibly one female or small male 5 foot 110-120 pounds.

Attached is a file with a list of missing items. This has a description, SKU and quantity of missing items. Dealers should be on watch in for anyone offering to sell the items listed. They are working to find the individual numbers for the certified coins.

Package Stolen

A package being shipped from Germany to the United States has been reported stolen/lost by Atlas Numismatics. The package contained coins bought in the March Kuenker sale. The coins are presumed to be stolen.

Monique-Marie-Reyna WARRANT ISSUED

The Bossier Financial Crimes Task Force has secured criminal arrest warrants for a woman accused of selling bogus silver bars to a local business. Monique Marie Reyna, of Corpus Christi, Texas, faces charges of felony theft by fraud and forgery for selling more than 500 bogus one ounce silver bars last month to a local business for nearly $6,500. Detectives were able to identify Reyna from evidence they obtained in the course of their investigation and are in contact with Texas authorities in an effort to locate her. During the investigation the Numismatic Crime Information Center was able to provide the Task Force with the following photo.

Southold, New York Detectives are investigating a residential burglary which resulted in the loss of over $125,000 in coins and currency.

The following is a partial list of stolen items:

1. 5 bags of silver coins:

2. 5 packs of $1 silver certificates (1957 A-B) <$100 per pack>

JULY 18th

The Bossier, Louisiana Financial Crimes Task Force and Bossier Crime Stoppers are asking for help with finding two suspects who recently sold bogus gold and silver bars to two local businesses.

The suspects are wanted in connection with two separate incidents. The first occurred on June 21 and involved a woman who sold more than 500 bars of what she claimed were each one ounce of silver. The second incident happened on July 10 in which a man sold 3 gold bars that he claimed were each 12 ounces of 18 carat gold.

July 17th

Fake Gold & Silver bars

The Numismatic Crime Information Center is assisting a Financial Crimes Task Force and the Secret Service who are investigating two offenses where a large amount of fake silver and gold bars were purchased. The one ounce silver bars were imprinted with Pan American Silver Corp /Northwest Territorial Mint. The gold bars were imprinted with Earnheart Mint.

We are attempting to locate other offenses or dealers having come into contact with these type of fake bars.

July 12th

WANTED Theft By Check

A Felony theft warrant has been issued for Orlando J. Lopez. Using the business name Numisource LLC. Lopez has written thousands of dollars in bad checks to dealers. Lopez is from the San Antonio, Texas area but has traveled in the West and Northwest part of the United States in the recent months.

JULY 11th

Possible Stolen Coins

The Astoria Oregon police department is requesting any information on the coins pictured in the below photos. The coins were located in a residence of a known drug user. Police are looking for a dealer or collector who may have been a victim of a burglary or robbery.
