1913-S. NGC graded MS-67+ PQ. A fully white Barber quarter gem with just a touch of peripheral gold toning. Exceptional surfaces as required for this incredible grade, and this clearly one over the very finest known of this prized issue.
The 1913-S Barber quarter has always been known as one of the great rarities of the Barber series, second only to the tougher 1901-S and about on par with 1896-S. These three coins define any advanced Barber quarter collection.
Having a massive cornerstone like the present offering will certainly put any specialiast high on the map of numismatic stardom! After all, only 40,000 pieces were struck, and while a modest number were saved in Mint State grades, most of those fall well short of the Superb grade level encountered here.
The strike is sharp and the surfaces are satin smooth, with undisturbed mint frost and luster throughout. An incredible example of any date Barber quarter, but especially so as one of the rarest key dates of this series!
The finest example we have ever handled. Pop 2; none finer at NGC and only 1 example graded higher in 68 at PCGS.
Estimate Value $40,000 – 50,000
