Gov. Bob Miller to Speak at 23rd Annual Casino Collectibles Convention

casinochipThe Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club, Inc. (CC&GTCC) is pleased to announce the banquet speaker at our 23rd Annual Casino Collectibles Convention, being held June 24-27th, 2015 at South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

Speaking the evening of June 24th is Former Nevada Governor Robert Joseph “Bob” Miller, an American serviceman, attorney and politician. He was the 26th Governor of the U.S. state of Nevada, serving from 1989 to 1999. Governor Miller moved with his family to Las Vegas, Nevada, and graduated from Bishop Gorman High School in 1963. He earned his political science degree from Santa Clara University and received his J.D. degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.

After serving his country in the U.S. Army Reserve and later in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, he became the Clark County Deputy District Attorney in 1971. In 1978 Miller was elected Clark County District Attorney, and in 1982 became the first holder of that office to win re-election. In 1986, he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Nevada. He became governor in 1989 Richard Bryan resigned to take a seat in the U.S. Senate. Miller was elected to two full four-year terms as Governor, in 1990 and 1994; his ten years in office make him Nevada’s longest-serving governor.

After leaving office, Miller worked for the law firm of Jones Vargas in its Las Vegas office from 1999–2005. During the 2008 presidential campaign he co-chaired Hillary Clinton’s Governors Council.

Miller presently serves on the board of directors of Wynn Resorts and International Game Technology. He is the Principal of Robert J. Miller Consulting, which provides business to government and business to business advice and assistance.

Miller’s autobiography, Son of a Gambling Man, was released by Thomas Dunne Books in 2013.
