Lawrence Falater to Receive Hobby Award at Wall St. Bourse

By Wall Street Collectors Bourse….

OCTOBER 22-24, 2015 AT THE MUSEUM OF AMERICAN FINANCE

It is with great pleasure that the 5th Wall Street Collectors Bourse will present its “Friend in the Hobby Award” this year to Lawrence “Larry” Falater, an eminent collector, dealer and author in the fields of scripophily and numismatics. Residing in Allen, Michigan, Mr. Falater retired as a financial executive for the Chrysler Corporation and has since had his own scripophily dealership. In 1997 he authored American Automotive Stock Certificates (BNR Press), a 400-page collector’s guide with values, many full-page photographs, and descriptions of North American automotive stock and bond certificates. He is currently working on a book about aviation stock certificates, in addition to contributing regularly to numismatic publications about collectible stocks and bonds, and bank notes. He exhibits frequently.

Now at the helm of a successful dealership, Larry Falater admits that he loves Michigan. He started his collecting career in 1941 with Michigan Native American arrowheads, and by 1950 had moved on to paper money and scripophily. He found the documents of the mines in Upper Michigan and the Hudson Motor Car Company particularly interesting. He has always been attracted to mining money, national bank notes and all stock certificates from Michigan. His collection also includes numismatic signatures and some coins.

Mr. Falater is a member of the Michigan State Numismatic Society, the Paper Money Collectors of Michigan, a 50-year member of the American Numismatic Association (ANA), an Honorary Life member of the American Numismatic Society, a Charter and Life Member of the Society of Paper Money Collectors (SPMC) and a Charter and Life Member of the Token and Medal Society (TAMS).

Larry Falater has spent most of his life contributing significantly to the hobby and will receive his well deserved “Friend in the Hobby Award” at the 5th Annual Wall Street Collectors Bourse Dinner. The Bourse will be held October 22–24 in the exhibition gallery of the Museum of American Finance at 48 Wall Street (www.moaf.org). An event for lovers of financial history, it brings dealers, collectors and visitors together to sell, trade and tell stories about their coins, collectible stock and bond certificates, antique paper money, autographs, and related memorabilia. Archives International Auctions will hold the public and Internet sale on the bourse floor on Saturday morning, October 24th at 10:30am. All are welcome!

Museum Admission is FREE during the Bourse, so visitors can enjoy the show and museum’s fascinating exhibits in one visit, as well as interesting talks by:
