In conjunction with a remote broadcast by 94.9 FM WMMQ morning host Deb Hart at their store in Lansing’s Frandor Shopping Center on Saturday, June 18, Liberty Coins will give visitors free small bags of coins currently spendable in at least 10 foreign countries.
Said Liberty Coin Service Owner Tom Coulson:
“Liberty Coins has become the Lansing area’s largest provider of foreign currency exchange since most banks and credit unions scaled back this service. We receive dozens of referrals weekly from travel agents, banks, credit unions, personal referrals, and even the Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau. Still, many people don’t yet realize that we carry in stock foreign currencies that can be used in forty nations or that we buy these and other currencies from the public. We want to highlight this service by hosting a fun day for visitors coming to our store.”
In addition to the bags of free foreign coins, visitors will also receive a helpful brochure titled, “Common-Sense Precautions For International Travelers,” the current Liberty Coins list of buy and sell prices for many foreign currencies, a Liberty Coin Service two-gigabyte computer flash drive, and can select from other consumer information materials available. People visiting the store on June 18 (which will be open from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM) will be able to register for a drawing for free prizes, including a Mexico 1945-dated gold coin, silver coins, Ancient Greek, Roman, and Biblical coins, and more–no purchase necessary.
Customers purchasing foreign currency exchange that day will pay a rate discounted 1% from Liberty’s normal competitive buy and sell rates.
While in the store, visitors will also be able to hold in their hands US $500 and $1,000 Federal Reserve Notes, inspect genuine documents signed by early American presidents such as Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, US government paper money with the signature of Oldsmobile founder R. E. Olds, coins more than 2,000 years old, an original photograph of the 1913 Michigan Agricultural College football team (the first MAC team to beat the University of Michigan), and many other “museum-caliber” collectibles.
Frequently-honored Liberty Coin Service, founded in 1971, is Michigan’s largest rare coin and precious metals dealership. Former owner and current Communications Officer Patrick A. Heller calls himself the “Unofficial Artist” of the 2004 Michigan Statehood Quarter for being the primary author of the written instructions supplied to engraver Donna Weaver to create the master dies for the US Mint coin issue.
Liberty Coin Service has been located in the Frandor Shopping Center in Lansing since 1975.
