By the Royal Australian Mint….
Netball fans and general public alike will be able to get more than just a netball experience during the Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 this year as the Royal Australian Mint sets up shop onsite with a special minting machine to create the perfect official game souvenir.
In an Australian first, the Mint will descend on Sydney between 7-16 August and bring netball fans the opportunity to personally stamp an ‘S’ for Sydney onto a 20-cent piece, designed especially for the Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 .
Royal Australian Mint CEO Ross MacDiarmid said that the Mint’s presence onsite and new product releases for this world-class sport continues the Mint’s history of commemorating important Australian themes, including significant sporting events.
“Sport is such a huge part of Australian culture and netball has become a national pastime for many,” said Mr MacDiarmid.
“As the national team faces the 2015 championships with hopes to secure their 11th Netball World Cup, the Mint has created the first 20 cent ‘S’ for Sydney counterstamp coin, a unique memento giving fans the opportunity to take home a piece of the action; their own trophy of the game.”
The 2015 20c Uncirculated ‘S’ Counterstamp Coin will retail for only $15 and can be bought by visiting FanFEST, the official fan zone at Allphones Arena, also open to the public for free. This coin will be placed in Netball World Cup-themed packaging with a unique sticker identifying the exclusivity of this collectible piece.
This opportunity follows the release of the innovative world-class 2015 $5 Fine Silver Proof Domed Coin creatively utilising the curved shape to depict the iconic netball and goal.
