Pinnacle Rarities is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Powell to the role of Marketing Director/Numismatist. Matt joined Pinnacle’s team full-time on November 7, 2011.
In his role, Matt is responsible for building and maintaining excellent relations with existing marketing channels as well as selling new acquisitions and services to clients and prospective customers. Additionally, Matt will continue his role as resident photographer and numismatic cataloger, as he has done part-time for the last five years.
For the past 20 years, Matt was employed at Regal Entertainment Group. He spent the first decade in Operations as District Manager overseeing the Seattle market. The latter decade, he was responsible for a wide variety of activities including SOX/PCI compliance, loss prevention and internal audit as a Corporate Field Auditor.
Raised in the Sacramento, CA area, Matt developed an interest for coins at the early age of seven, while frequenting the local farmer’s market. He also enjoyed visiting the mint at Carson City and panning for gold in Virginia City in his youth. Matt comes from a long line of prominent Californians dating back to the Gold Rush, with his earliest ancestor in the State having started the first telegraph, vineyard and bank (acquired from the bankrupt Adams & Co.) in Georgetown.
Today, Matt diligently works on his type registry set and is a fixture at the local PNNA shows. He is a member of the ANA and has completed the advanced grading class in Colorado Springs. Matt attended college in Oregon with a background in Business Administration. He also has a passion for flying and acquired his pilot’s license while in Portland, OR.
