Monnaie de Paris Commemorates 50th Anniversary of Man’s 1st Step on the Moon with Gold and Silver Coins

Orchestrated by the Apollo 11 mission, the First Step on the Moon was made July 21, 1969, by astronaut Neil Armstrong.

APOLLO 11

Part of the Apollo American Space Program owned by NASA, Apollo 11 is a mission that had for the purpose of driving men to the moon and to ask for the first time.

After a series of missions to develop critical space techniques, the Apollo 11 mission is sent on July 16, 1969, from the Kennedy Space Center thanks to the Saturn V rocket, developed for this program. The crew is then composed of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Neil Armstrong is appointed as mission commander and pilot of the lunar module. Buzz Aldrin is Armstrong’s co-pilot on the lunar soil. Finally, Michael Collins is appointed pilot of the control and service module that stayed in orbit lunar.

Obverse

On the money 10 € Silver BE, the scene is sublimated by the blue resin that is inserted in the perforated part to represent the Universe and its infinite extent.

A light source placed behind this blue surface gives all the brilliance, the depth and the sublimation of the Earth’s clear to this uncirculated currency. Each currency of 10 € is unique with a deposit of resin that is clean, echoing the movements perpetual stars in the Universe.

There is literally not an obverse and a reverse but a side seen from the Moon and a side seen from the Earth.

Reverse

The reverse refers to a plan “seen from the Earth”. Indeed, the Moon is left and the astronaut is back. Inscriptions “1969-2019” as well as “50 years of the First Man on the Moon” testify to the anniversary of this event. The face value is also visible on the reverse.

50 € 5oz Silver BE with resin deposit

Obverse

On the coin 50 € 5oz Silver BE, the big diameter highlights the decor and the particularly worked relief of the Moon. The scene is sublimated by a resin deposit blue surface representing the Universe and its infinite extent; under the resin of the stars are engraved in the background in the metal.

Each piece is decorated by hand in an artisanal way; every 5 Oz currency Silver is unique with a resin deposit that it’s clean.
