By David Lawrence Rare Coins ……
Our Sunday Internet Auction #1074 offers a phenomenal registry quality gem Seated dime, a beautiful toned Seated half dollar, a key date $3 Princess gold and a countless number of PCGS-, NGC-, and CAC-certified pieces. In all, there’s a vast selection of over 250 New Items, featuring 50 No Reserve Lots and 30 Vault Value Items. All lots will begin closing at 8 pm EST on Sunday, July 21.
Our first highlight coin is an 1859 10c PCGS MS68. A beautifully toned example of this fantastic type coin. With basically no distracting marks and light reddish-rose outer tints, the centers display a pleasant blue. This coin is as nice of a dime as we’ve ever handled, and its story of survival would certainly be an interesting one. Only six coins are graded as such for the entire type with none having ever sold in auction, this seems like a fantastic value for the long-term collector.
This week’s second highlight is an 1876 50c PCGS/CAC MS67 that has gorgeous rainbow toning with fantastic eye appeal. Electric blue, red, and orange tones around the rim with light golden tinted centers, this piece is absolutely as nice as they come. Only a single other example is graded as such by PCGS and this CAC-approved gem is certainly the most attractive example of the date.
Our final highlight is an 1877 $3 PCGS AU58. A wonderful rarity in the $3 gold Princess series. From an original mintage of just 1,468 coins, very few survived. This coin appears to be prooflike in our eyes and the fields are absolutely mesmerizing with fantastic mirrors!
