The 33rd Annual National Currency and Coin Convention (NCCC), sponsored by the 135 member Professional Currency Dealers Association (PCDA), moves to a new site for its 33rd annual edition. The new venue will be the Hilton Rosemont Chicago/O’Hare, at 5550 North River Road, Rosemont, Illinois. The Hilton is one block North of the previous Crowne Plaza site. It is located roughly two miles from O’Hare Airport and offers complimentary van service to and from the airport.
Patricia Foley, Convention Chairman for the NCCC, said of the move:
“The Rosemont Hilton is an especially attractive and up to date facility. Our bourse area will be held in the hotel’s Grand Ballroom, while the Lyn Knight auction lot viewing and auction will be held in an immediately adjacent meeting room, the Lindberg Room. Auction lot viewing will start at 9AM on Thursday, March 1, while the two session sale will take place Thursday and Friday evenings. Thursday’s portion will be dedicated to world currency, while the final session on Friday will encompass United States material.”
Bourse activities will open on Thursday from 10AM to 1PM with the Early Bird/Professional Preview, when non tabled attendees can gain early admission to the bourse for a $50 registration fee. A $5 registration fee grants bourse access throughout all the general public hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday: 1PM-6PM Thursday; 10AM-6PM Friday and 10AM-2PM Saturday.
At 1PM Saturday the Chicago Coin Club will host a meeting open to the general public that will include an educational program to be announced.
Kevin Foley, Bourse Chairman since the first year of the NCCC, said of the event:
“Lyn Knight has conducted an official auction in conjunction with each and every one of our events since the very first edition. His sales always include a wide range of material, from modestly priced items obtainable by anyone to museum piece rarities. Lyn was the pioneer in offering larger sale sections dedicated to foreign paper money and has been a major contributor to popularizing that specialty area in the paper money collecting arena. Indeed, each year more and more of our booth holders offer foreign paper money, a development caused in large measure by Lyn’s growing auction presence in that specialty. We’re all eagerly awaiting what he has in store for the NCCC auction this year.”
Full details of the event are available on the website, www.pcdaonline.com. A $119 sleeping room rate is available at the Hilton. Attendees should call the hotel at (847) 678-4488 and tell the agent that they want to book under the room block of the “National Currency and Coin Convention” at the discounted $119 rate.
Dealers interested in the availability of booth space should either call Bourse Chairman Kevin Foley at (414) 807-0116 or contact him via e-mail at [email protected].
