Christ standing under a Gothic arch, presenting communion with two children kneeling and accompanied by two angels; palm trees flanking / JE • RENONCE • A • SATAN • A • SES • POMPES • ET • A • SES • OEUVERS • ET • JE • M’ATTACHE • A • JESUS • CHRIST • POUR • TOUJOURS • (‘I renounce Satan and his words, and align myself with Jesus Christ for all eternity’). The Holy Spirit, in the form of a radiant dove brings a radiant halo, above an altar with an open book inscribed, “IHS – XPS”, between statues of St. George slaying the dragon, left, and the Virgin Mary holding a lily, right. Engravers names signed to either side. An entwined monogram, “LD”, the present medal’s designee, Lucien Durand, engraved in script on the altar; below on three-lines, “BAPTEME 18 / PREM: COMMUNION 23 MAI 1880 / CONFIRMATION”; and a monogram of “ASPIPE MARIAE Latin” meaning “under the protection of Mary”) surrounded by a wreath.
