Bank Releases 100-Piso New Generation Currency Banknote with Stronger Mauve or Violet Color

By Central Bank of the Philippines …..
On Monday, February 1, the Central Bank of the Philippines (Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas or BSP) issued 100-Piso banknotes with a stronger mauve or violet color to make it more distinct from the 1,000-Piso banknote. This is in response to suggestions from the public to make it easier to distinguish from said banknote.

Compared with the current color of the 100-Piso banknote in circulation, the new 100-Piso banknote has stronger mauve or violet colors on the obverse and reverse sides. All the other features of the new banknote remain the same.

The current 100-Piso banknotes can still be used for daily transactions for payment of goods and services and will commingle with the new banknotes until supplies of the first version run out. Henceforth, the BSP will be printing the new 100-Piso note exclusively.

Only the old banknote series (New Design Series or NDS), launched in 1985, will no longer be acceptable in daily transactions for payment of goods and services. They can only be exchanged for New Generation Currency (NGC) banknotes at authorized agent banks and the BSP until 31 December 2016.
