PCGS Offers On-Site Crossover Special At September 2014 Long Beach Expo

Professional Coin Grading Service (www.PCGS.com) will offer a special opportunity for “crossover” service at the September 4 – 6, 2014 Long Beach Coin, Currency, Stamp & Sports Collectible Expo (www.LongBeachExpo.com). The usual Crossover grading fee will be waived on coins submitted at the show that do not crossover into PCGS holders.

“This is an excellent opportunity to submit your coins that have been graded by other third-party grading companies. If the coins do not meet PCGS standards and are not crossed over, you do not pay anything,” said PCGS President Don Willis.

pcgs_crossover_newmanThe criteria for the Long Beach Expo Crossover Special are simple:

  • PCGS will accept coins in ANACS, ICG or NGC holders.
  • Each customer can submit a maximum of 500 crossovers.
  • The Crossover Special is not available for Show Express orders.

If a submitted coin qualifies for certification by PCGS, to the submitter’s specification, the standard grading fee will apply plus one percent of the declared value of the coin in its final grade. If the coin does not cross, it will be returned in its original holder and only the PCGS handling fee will be charged.

Coins received by PCGS after 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, may not be completed by the end of the show. Please check with a PCGS Customer Service Representative at the booth (#807) for official cutoff information. Any submissions not completed at the show are subject to appropriate shipping and handling charges which are in addition to any grading or guarantee premium fees.

“PCGS is the leading third-party coin authentication company, and collectors and dealers around the world know that the PCGS certification helps maximize the value and the liquidity of their coins,” stated Willis.

    • NGC appears to actually be grading more coins than PCGS when you look at the press releases of coins graded. I am guessing that may be due to NGC grading more Modern and low value coins. The higher value coins seem to end up in PCGS slabs. I would guess they are both close to a 50% market share with a small remainder to ANACS and ICG and others.

  1. FYI – Don Willis said you could send coins as normal to PCGS and then instruct them to grade them at Long Beach to get the crossover special
