Perth Mint Reveals 2014 Gold and Silver Australian Bullion Coin Program

The Perth Mint has unveiled the latest designs of the Australian Bullion Coin Program to an audience of financiers and investors in Frankfurt, Germany.

Featuring six series, the 2014 program showcases Australia’s iconic fauna in their natural environment, and the seventh animal from the ancient Chinese zodiac as the lunar calendar enters the spirited Year of the Horse.

The renowned Australian Kangaroo and Australian Lunar 99.99% pure gold bullion coins are available in sizes ranging from 1/20oz to 10 kilograms, while the popular Australian Kookaburra, Koala and Lunar 99.9% pure silver issues are available from 1/2oz to 10 kilograms.

A special Australian Platypus 1oz 99.95% pure platinum release completes the trio of precious metals offered and establishes the program as a unique and convenient way to diversify an investment portfolio.

Each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and reflects the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.

With Australian bullion coins contributing the 77% of The Perth Mint’s total coin sales, they are a trusted and highly sought-after investment choice throughout the world.

Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director, Ron Currie said: “Australia’s bullion coins attract interest from individual to institutional investors across Australasia, China, Japan, Europe and North America.

According to Thomson Reuters Gold Fields Minerals Survey figures, Australia’s investment coins maintain a strong fourth position in the global marketplace.

“By enhancing the quality of our bullion coins with annual design changes and select mintages, we’re confident that our world market share will continue to grow at a steady pace,” Mr Currie continued.

To satisfy the expected high level of demand, The Perth Mint will release the program over the next five months. The Australian Lunar and Kookaburra series will be available from September, followed by the Kangaroo in October, the Koala in November, and the Platypus in January
