The Perth Mint Announces New Products for March 2013

March 2, 2013 – The Perth Mint

For the month of March, The Perth Mint is pleased to showcase a stunning assortment of new product releases.

Australia is a continent rich in history, cultural diversity and unique habitats. The Perth Mint is pleased to announce two feature coins from the series aptly titled, The Land Down Under, which showcases aspects of Australian culture, discovery, lifestyle and land marks. The iconic Sydney Opera House is featured on the impressive 2oz gold and 10oz silver releases in this modern collector series.

The wonderfully crafted kangaroo coin is the third release in the popular Australian Opal series, showcasing nocturnal Australian animals created in pure Australian opal.

The high relief Australian Koala coin represents the very best in minting excellence and design.  Struck from 5oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, this is the first high relief coin created in this size issued by The Perth Mint as Australian legal tender. This coin will be available in Australia only.

In September 1988, The Perth Mint released the nation’s first Platinum Koala coin.  To celebrate its 25th anniversary, a commemorative 1/2oz platinum tribute coin, which replicates this remarkable first release, is issued with a 1/2oz silver medallion.

The tenth coin from the amazingly popular Australian Antarctic Territory series is struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality and features the heavenly Aurora Australis.

Anzac Day is a day on which we honour all those who gave their lives in the service of their country.  This year’s 2013 ANZAC tribute salutes the engineers who have served, and continue to serve, in the Australian Defence Force.
