CoinWeek Midnight Stream Episode #3: Eisenhower Dollars

The CoinWeek Midnight Stream returned on Friday with its third episode as editor Charles Morgan covered the week in coins and gave an in-depth breakdown of the Eisenhower dollar series and market.

The Eisenhower dollar was the last “large sized” circulating dollar coin struck by the United States Mint and was produced from 1971-1978. The design was the work of U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro, whose work also includes the reverse of the Lincoln “Memorial” cent and the reverse of the Kennedy half dollar.

A popular coin amongst a growing demographic of coin collectors, the Eisenhower dollar can be collected in any number of ways, from modest examples pulled from change to Mint State pieces placed in coin albums, to advanced collections consisting of die varieties or examples in the finest condition known.

After our Ike dollar discussion, Charles answered viewer questions live on air.

It was a lively discussion and show-and-tell, and even Charles’ Maine Coon Cat made an appearance (it’s live video, folks!).
