PCGS Announces Coin Restoration Service

The world’s largest third coin grading company announced a new coin restoration service during the PCGS Luncheon at the FUN Coin Convention in Orlando. PCGS President Don Willis explained how the new service will work, its fee structure and what to expect and not expect when coins are submitted. Willis explained that most other collectible items are conserved and restored such as paintings, cars, furniture and the like so it made sense that some coins might need restoration as well.

PCGS Offers $10,000 Reward to See 1964 Peace Dollar

The Professional Coin Grading Service has created a list of the Top 100 Modern US Coins. The number one coin on that list is the legendary 1964 Peace Dollar struck at the Denver Mint. Rumors of this coin being in collectors hands have been around for years and PCGS is offering $10,000 just to be able to examine a genuine specimen. Modern coin collecting has grown dramatically in the last few years and PCGS want to be at the lead spot in this numismatic industry expansion.

About The Florida United Numismatists Convention:

The 58th annual Florida United Numismatists coin convention was held in Orlando January 10-13, 2013. It featured the largest number of bourse tables ever assembled at a FUN convention with 614 dealer booths along with 223 cases of educational exhibits. There were 16 different educational lectures, the Hobo Nickel Association of carvers, a Young Numismatist Program and Scout Merit Badge seminar, Abraham Lincoln (Dennis Boggs) and Robert E. Lee on the bourse floor, Ray Dillard with a commemorative Elongated Cent, the Piedmont Gold Panners, Mike Bean and his Spider Press, a rare coin auction by Heritage, and all the major grading services accepting coins. FUN also chartered busses to bring members of the adjacent FUN coin clubs to the convention bringing additional coin collectors to the show. Attendance at this year’s convention was expected to top 10,000 people
