On Thursday, June 30, the Bank of Russia issued into circulation the latest bimetallic 10-ruble commemorative coin in the “Russian Federation” series, honoring Amur Oblast. Also released was the latest entry in the “City of Military Glory” series, a 10-ruble coin commemorating the city of Gatchina.

The Amur region coin has a diameter of 27.0 mm and consists of two parts: a cupro-nickel disc and a brass outer ring. The rim is raised on both sides of the coin. The edge of the coin is corrugated and bears the inscriptions “ten rubles”, repeated twice and divided by asterisks.

The obverse of the coin, on the ring along the rim, features the inscription “BANK OF RUSSIA” at the top and 2016 at the bottom. To the left and right of the outer ring are images of laurel and oak, respectively. In the center of the disc the number “10” and the inscription “rubles” under it indicate the denomination of the coin. Inside of the figure “0” is a security element in the form of the number “10” and the inscription “rub”, which changes appearance when observed from different angles to the plane of the coin. At the bottom of the disc is the mint mark.

The “Gatchina” commemorative is made of brass-plated steel and has a diameter of 22.0 mm. The rim is raised on both sides of the coin. The edge of the coin features interrupted corrugation alternating with areas having a different number of reeds.

At the top of the obverse, along the rim, is the inscription “BANK OF RUSSIA”, and the year 2016 is inscribed at the bottom. To the left and right are images of laurel and oak, respectively. In the center are the numbers “10” and the inscription “rubles” under it to indicate the denomination of the coin. Inside of the figure “0” is a security element in the form of the number “10” and the inscription “rub”, which again changes appearance when observed from different angles to the plane of the coin.
