Niue 2015 Seven New Wonders of the World $7 Spheroid Silver Coin

Seven New Wonders of the World Coin - Mint of Poland

Description:

The Mint of Poland made a splash when it debuted the genre-bending $7 spheroid silver coin struck for the island of Niue. The first-of-its-kind coin broke the “fourth wall” of mainstream coin design, forgoing the concepts of obverse, reverse, and edge and taking the concept of a postmodern commemorative or themed coin to its (il)logical conclusion. The seven-ounce spheroid – embellished with Swarovski crystals – was produced by a proprietary six-element die. It’s thematic concept: the Seven New Wonders of the World.

The following video, produced by ACYSYS Lasterechnik GmbH, describes the die production process of this unique coin concept.
