About Medalcraft Mint

Medalcraft Mint has been a Wisconsin-based company since its founding in 1948. What began as a two-man collaboration in an old blacksmith shop has evolved into a world leader in the die-struck award and custom challenge coin industry.

Orlo Christensen and Gordon Thorson founded what was known originally as the West Shore Manufacturing Company. The company operated in the lakeshore community of Kewaunee, Wisconsin, for 27 years before moving to Green Bay under then-owner Tom Tadych in 1975.

Current owner and CEO Jerry Moran bought Medalcraft Mint in 2007 and introduced improvements such as Lean Manufacturing processes, and web-based inventory and order management systems.

The company produces a wide selection of challenge coins, badges, recognition awards, ceremonial maces and other commemoratives in its 32,000-square-foot facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin. 1. There is another American mint that produces art medals–The Highland Mint in Melbourne, Florida. They have produced high quality patinated medals for the American Numismatic Association, the Jewish-American Hall of Fame, etc. For more information and quote contact Vince Bohbot, Executive Vice President, at vbohbot@thehighlandmint.com.
