Aussie Wildlife in Colour on Perth Mint Tribute

The Perth Mint has captured the endearing qualities of Australia’s much loved kangaroo, koala and kookaburra in its latest 2012 Australian Outback silver coin collection.

Displaying the identical artistry as shown on Australia’s 2012 popular bullion series, the stunning designs depict the nation’s instantly recognizable wildlife in their natural habitats.

Brought to life using vibrant colour, each 1/2oz 99.9% pure silver release is part of a treasure trio which is superbly presented in a prestigious three-coin collection.

The reverse of the kangaroo coin portrays a coloured image of a kangaroo standing against a bush scene.  The koala coin’s reverse depicts a coloured image of the cuddly creature sleeping on the branch of a eucalyptus tree.  Similarly the kookaburra coin’s reverse portrays a coloured image of the iconic bird perched on a tree branch surrounded by gum leaves.

The design includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN along with the name of the featured fauna. The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and the 2012 year-date are also included on each coin’s reverse.

“The Australian outback is a land like no other and the animals in this remarkable collection are completely unique to the area. It is perhaps for this reason that they are so sought after by coin collectors and gift buyers throughout the world”, said Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director, Ron Currie.

Issued as Australian legal tender, each coin’s obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination

No more than 5,000 of these colourful collections will be released worldwide.

Priced at $175, the 2012 Australian Outback silver coin collection is available from The Perth Mint at 310 Hay Street in East Perth, on toll free 1800 098 817 (Australia), +61 8 9421 7218 (International) or at www.perthmint.com.au Purchasers can also check availability of the coin at their local coin dealer or Australia Post outlet.
