Description:
To mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, the Mint of Spain produced a limited edition 10-euro silver commemorative coin. The coin is the twelfth wave of coins released by the Spanish mint in their European Heritage series. The .925 silver coin weighs 27 grams and has a dual value of 10 euro and 8 reales.
Obverse: The left facing effigy of Spanish King Felipe VI in military dress uniform. Unit insignia is visible on the collar. Bust truncation extends to the end of the epaulet. A beaded border incircles the coin adjacent to the rim. Inscriptions read: FELIPE VI REY DE ESPAÑA. The date “2015” appears at the bottom of the coin, centered between two dots.
Reverse: A flat representation of a dove in flight. Held in its beak is an olive branch. The emblem of the Spanish Mint (M surmounted by crown) appears in the dove’s tail feather area. A beaded border incircles the coin adjacent to the rim. The inscription 70 AÑOS DE PAZ (70 years of peace) wraps around the top of the coin, the word “DE” in incuse as it is stamped into the dove’s wing. At the bottom of the coin, in large text, is the denomination, written as 10 EURO. To the right of the denomination is the Eurostar logo, the emblem of the Europa Coin Programme.
