100th Anniversary of Polish Independence
By Mint of Poland ……
The 5 zloty commemorative coin issued by the Mint of Poland is but one element of the national commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Poland’s independence. The National Bank of Poland and the Mint have issued this unique 5-zloty in a symbolic circulation of 38,424,000 pieces, equal to the current population of the Republic of Poland.
The reverse and the obverse of the 5-zloty jubilee does not differ much from the standard ones. What makes it unique is the inscription “100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence”. It is expected that they will remain in circulation for at least several dozen years. Commemorative issues account for 10% of all five-zloty coins introduced into general circulation. The effort is all part of the Mint’s desire to place the coin into the hands of every Pole.
The 5 zloty coin is also a preview of subsequent issues of commemorative money. To celebrate the events of 100 years ago, the bank and the mint will release a coin with an unusual denomination of PLN 2018 (with a mintage of 1918 pieces) and occasional monies and stucco coins, as well as a banknote.
The production of all coins was entrusted to the Mint of Poland, which this year has already begun the commemroative series devoted to, among others, the Polish national team taking part in the Winter Games in Pyongsang and one of the fathers of the modern Polish economy, Fryderyk Skarbek.
