Serbian-born coin designer Aleksandra Stokic joined the Royal Australian Mint in 2011. Prior to that, Stokic worked for the Istituto Polografica e Zecca dello Stato in Rome. Her design credits include the Centenary of Canberra and Australian Mining designs, as well as the 2015 Remembrance Day 2-dollar commemorative coin.
Stokic studied sculpture at the University of Applied Arts in Belgrade, graduating in 2003. In 2005, she enrolled in the School of Metallic Arts in Rome, where she broadened her knowledge of metallurgic techniques under the expert tutelage of veteran Italian Mint artists.
Stokic is the winner of three International Coin Design Competition awards, winning award for her International Year of Astrology 2009 design, a coin that was struck and issued by the Mint of Japan.
