Recognized financial industry executive joins leading numismatic auction house

Stack’s Bowers Galleries has announced today that John Konop, a recognized financial industry executive and experienced U.S. and world coin collector, has joined the company as vice president, operating out of the company’s Irvine, Calif., headquarters.

“I am thrilled to welcome John to our team,” said Brian Kendrella, president of Stack’s Bowers Galleries. “Over the last several years, I have had the pleasure of knowing John as an important client and astute collector. John’s advanced numismatic background and foundation as a true collector, combined with his service background and professional success, makes him the ideal candidate to develop and expand upon the services offered to our elite clientele.”

He has also been recognized as one of the Top 100 managers in the U.S. for all financial service firms three years in a row (2007–2009).

“As a financial industry executive and longtime client to a number of leading numismatic firms, I understand the value in providing a client experience that is second to none. I look forward to working with Brian and the Stack’s Bowers Galleries team to expand our existing client services and programs to ensure an unsurpassed level of personal service to collectors, dealers and investors,” said Konop.

About Stack’s Bowers Galleries

Stack’s Bowers Galleries, a division of Fortune 500 Company Spectrum Group International Inc., conducts live, Internet and specialized auctions of rare U.S. and world coins and currency and ancient coins, as well as direct sales through retail and wholesale channels. The company’s 80-year legacy includes the cataloging and sale of many of the most valuable collections to ever cross an auction block — The John J. Ford, Jr. and Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr. Collections, The Harry W. Bass, Jr. Collection, The Norweb Collection, and The Cardinal Collection — to name just a few. Topping off this amazing numismatic history is the inclusion of the world record for the highest price ever realized at auction for a rare coin, the 1794 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar graded Specimen-66 (PCGS) that realized over $10 million, part of their sale of the famed Cardinal Collection. The company is headquartered in Irvine, California, with offices in New York, Wolfeboro, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Paris. Stack’s Bowers Galleries is the Official Auctioneer for several important numismatic conventions, including the 2013 ANA World’s Fair of Money and the ANA/PNG Pre-Show, the 2013 ANA National Money Show, and the Whitman Coin and Collectibles Baltimore Expo, three times yearly.
