The Greater Houston Coin Club has announced the winner’s of this year’s club awards. Receiving the honors are collectors Mike Greenspan, Rick Ewing and John Barber. The Greater Houston Coin Club was founded in 1955 and serves coin collectors in the Greater Houston area. Among its key objectives is the promotion of the study of numismatics through educational and scientific means, the advancement of numismatic knowledge, and the promotion popular interest in numismatics.
Tom Schwartz (l) and Lisa Schwartz (r), the previous year winners, present a permanent memento of the Francis Townsend Award to Mike Greenspan.
Named in honor of a former long-time Greater Houston Coin Club member, the Francis Townsend Award is presented annually to that GHCC member, or couple, who has distinguished themselves by providing outstanding service to numismatics and the GHCC.
Rick Ewing (r) accepts an award for his exhibit from Dr. Ralph Ross at the recent Texas Numismatic Association (TNA) annual coin show in Arlington, Texas.
Rick’s exhibit featured currency and was titled “OOops, Errors Nobody Caught”
John Barber (r) accepts an award for the best club publication of the year from Ron Kersey of the Texas Numismatic Association.
Mr. Barber is the long-time editor of the Double Shift – the monthly Greater Houston Coin Club publication.
The award was presented at the recent Texas Numismatic Association annual coin show held in Arlington, Tx.
The GHCC is also proud to have Mr. Barber representing District 6 as a TNA Governor.
