Legend Rare Coin Market Report – Upcoming Premier Sessions, Regency Auctions

By Laura SperberLegend Numismatics ……
What a whirlwind of a week! We have been extremely busy cataloging our December Premier and January Regency Auctions. Up until the very last seconds, we were getting coins in. Must say, the last groups of coins we got in were nothing less then incredible!

We had the entire December Premier Sale lotted this last weekend and the sale will be opening for bidding on Thursday, December 6. What a great sale it has turned out to be. There are 350 lots of great collector-oriented coins. Indeed, even our most important lots are in grades that are really popular for collectors. Here are just a few random highlights, most of them CAC-approved:

  • 25C 1804 F15 CAC
  • 25C 1908 PCGS PR67 CAC
  • 50C 1794 VF35 CAC
  • 50C 1920 PCGS MS 65+ CAC
  • $20 1907 High Relief. PCGS AU58 CAC
  • $20 1924 PCGS MS66+ CAC
  • $50 1915-S Pan Pac Round. PCGS AU55
  • $50 1915-S Pan Pac Octagonal. PCGS AU53

1915-S Panama-Pacific $50 Octagonal

Really neat selections of half cents, Capped Bust half dollars, Draped Bust dollars, and lots of gold will attract serious bidding from all over. We promise you, the Final Premier Session will truly have something for everyone! We will have full lot viewing in Las Vegas December 12-14 at the PCGS Members Show, just like at a Regency Auction. Bidding will close on Sunday, December 16 starting at 9pm. NOTE: Because of the size of the sale, there will be a 20-second countdown clock, rather than a 30-second clock, between lots. Please keep this in mind as you make your plans.

Even though this is the last and largest Premier Session we have ever had, know that each and every coin was vetted by Laura Sperber and her team for quality and eye appeal. This is what made the Premier Sessions different from every other internet only coin auction in the business. You will not have to search or scroll through hundreds of low end or problem coins to find a few jewels to add to your collection.

Regency Auction 30

We are now officially closed for consignments. Lots of coins have come in the last two weeks, with many great coins for collectors of all levels. We are still organizing, but it will be one of our best Regency Auctions ever, and certainly is for a January Regency sale. Further details are coming out, two of the major highlights are the Eliasberg-Duckor 1909-D $20, graded PCGS MS67 CAC—what a great Saint! Or how about the exceedingly rare $3 1878 PCGS PR65DCameo CAC! More details about highlights will come out in the coming weeks.

We will be doing a full lot viewing in Beverly Hills prior to our Regency Auction on Sunday, January 27. As a courtesy for our bidders, PCGS will be accepting submissions at our lot viewing. Coins submitted at our lot viewing will be the first ones graded at the Long Beach show.

Upcoming Events

We will be at the PCGS Members Show in Vegas on December 12-14, and will be accepting consignments for our March Regency Auction. We are already working on some interesting consignments for this sale, so if you have coins, be sure to get them in early. Julie Abrams and Jessica Berkman will be at the show, so if you have coins to consign, please contact them directly ([email protected] or [email protected])

The FUN Show

Laura, Julie, and Jessica will be at the show, and are already setting up appointments to meet with consignors. Be sure to contact them if you will be at the FUN show and would like to discuss consigning.

The New York International Show

While Laura, Julie, and Jessica will be at the FUN Show, Greg Cohen will be walking the floor at the New York International Numismatic Convention (NYINC). If you would like to meet with Greg at the show, please email him at [email protected].

Final Thoughts

Last week we talked about how choppy the market is. Those conditions are likely to continue. However, when a great coin becomes available, don’t let it pass you by. You are buying today for tomorrow. Great coins leave the market in a blink in any market! There are lots of great coins in our upcoming auctions that you may bring prices that are higher than some recent auction comps, but if the quality and eye appeal are all there, if you pay a little more, don’t be afraid.

If you have coins you wish to consign, please contact Julie Abrams at [email protected], or Jessica Berkman at [email protected]. They will pay careful attention to your exact needs and craft selling options best fit for you and your coins. We assure you, we are NOT like any other auction house.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR WISH TO ORDER, YOU MAY ALSO EMAIL US AT [email protected]. WE DO NOT CHECK OUR MESSAGES UNTIL MONDAY 9 AM.
