The Joker stands as one of the most recognizable and popular comic book villains in pop culture history. Unpredictable and incredibly dangerous, Batman’s arch nemesis was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger and brought to life by artist Jerry Robinson.
The Joker made his debut in the Batman #1 comic in 1940 and today stands as one of the most recognizable and popular villains in pop culture.
In the 2016 film Suicide Squad, Jared Leto portrayed the villain as a softly spoken madman intent on rescuing Harley Quinn, played by Australian actress Margot Robbie, from Belle Reve prison.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the Suicide Squad – Joker 2019 1oz Silver Proof Coin.
Design
The coin’s reverse design depicts a colored image of Suicide Squad’s Joker leaning on a cane and staring ominously at the viewer against a stylized background of The Joker’s icon in the film. Also included in the design is the Suicide Squad logo, the inscription ‘JOKER’ and the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the weight and fineness, the 2019 year-date and the monetary denomination.
Presentation
The coin is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid. Packaged within a themed shipper, each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was chosen to appear on the coinage of the United Kingdom in 1998. His design began to appear on collector coins that year and became widespread starting in 1999 (View Designer’s Profile).
