The Royal Canadian Mint has achieved a new world-first by launching a 1 oz., 99.99% pure silver bullion coin celebrating SUPERMAN™, a pop culture icon who has inspired countless characters in the DC comics pantheon. This exciting new coin is now shipping to the Mint’s network of official bullion distributors.
Limited to a volume of one million pieces, this 2016-dated coin features design and security elements which continue to make the Mint’s silver bullion coins among the world’s most popular. Its reverse is emblazoned with a uniquely frosted engraving of Superman’s signature “S-Shield”, which stands out from a background of precisely engraved radial lines. The addition of a micro-engraved security mark consisting of a maple leaf containing the numeral “16” also makes this unique bullion coin a highly secure collectible.
To complete the SUPERMAN™ experience, quantities of 500 coins have been boxed in red and blue packaging with a cover label featuring a full-colour illustration of SUPERMAN™ and each 25-coin tube also features a custom tamper-proof seal.
