Two New Members Appointed to Royal Mint Advisory Committee

By the Royal Mint Advisory Committee….
On January 16, 2015, HM Treasury announced the appointment of two new members to the Royal Mint Advisory Committee (RMAC).

queenFollowing an open and competitive process, Professor Jane Ridley and Mr. Hughie O’Donoghue RA have taken up the appointments for initial terms of five years with the option of further five-year terms. The vacancies arose as a result of Sir David Cannadine and Mr. John Maine RA reaching the end of their terms of office.

Jane Ridley is Professor of History at the University of Buckingham and a biographer of King Edward VII.

Hughie O’Donoghue RA, born in Manchester, is an artist whose paintings engage with themes of history, memory and identity. His work is represented in many public and private collections in both the UK and internationally and he has recently completed work on two new stained glass windows for the Henry VII, Lady Chapel, Westminster Abbey.

About the Royal Mint Advisory Committee

The Royal Mint Advisory Committee on the Design of Coins, Medals, Seals and Decorations was established in 1922 with the personal approval of King George V. Its purpose is to advise the Chancellor of the Exchequer on new designs for United Kingdom coins and to advise other government departments on new designs for official medals and seals. It is classed as an Advisory Non-Departmental Public Body (lower tier).
