Need a present for a wedding? An anniversary? Retirement? The birth of a child?

Then take a look at the Mint’s perennially-popular Congratulations Set. A new set, containing a special folder and a brand-new American Silver Eagle proof coin, comes out every year. This year’s Congratulations Set goes on sale today at noon Eastern Standard Time (EST).

American Silver Eagle proof and bullion coins are made of one ounce of .999 fine silver, and the proof finish on this collector’s version means that the coin has mirrored fields and sharper relief than the regular bullion version.

2015 American Silver Eagle proofs are manufactured at the West Point Mint, and the ‘W’ mint mark can be found under and to the left of John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle on the reverse. Mercanti also adapted Adolph Weinman’s classic Liberty Walking half dollar design (1916-1947) for the obverse.

The front of the folder is decorated with images of gold, silver and blue ribbons over a white background. It also says “Congratulations!”, “2015 United States Mint Congratulations Set” and “American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin”. The inside is similarly decorated with gold and silver ribbons, but over a black background instead. There is an oval on the left side where you can write your own personal note of congratulations. The right side holds the Silver Eagle, and the package allows you to see both the obverse and reverse of the coin. A certificate of Authenticity is printed on the back of the folder.

There is currently no mintage or household order limit on 2015-W American Silver Eagle proof coins, so there is subsequently no mintage or order limit on the 2015 Congratulations Set.

It is priced at $50.95. Standard shipping costs $4.95 and takes up to one or two weeks to arrive, but speedier options are available at a higher cost.
