CCAC Releases United States Marshals Commemorative Coin Program Design Candidates

The United States Mint has released the following candidate design images for the 2015 225th Anniversary of the United States Marshals Commemorative Coin Program. The program, authorized by Public Law 112-104, directs the Secretary of the Treasury to mint $5 gold coins, silver dollars, and clad half dollars to honor “225 years of exemplary and unparalleled achievements of the U.S. Marshals Service.”

The designs were reviewed by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Commission (CCAC) on March 10-11, 2014.

The CCAC will forward their recommendations to the Secretary of the Treasury. In addition, the candidate designs will be reviewed by the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) and the Director of the United States Marshals Service. The Secretary of the Treasury has ultimate authority over the selection of the coin’s design.

  1. These are some terrific designs esp the $5 gold reverse eagles, and the silver dollars with Western themes. I think they would be very popular.

  2. It’s much easier to pick great looking designs from these sets. I wonder if the US Mint is poised to begin to see mintage figures like what we saw prier to 2008 in the commemorative program.
