CAPTAIN PICARD AND THE ENTERPRISE EXPLORE THE MILKY WAY

Calling all Star Trek fans…

Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek: The Next Generation debuted in 1987, and ran for seven seasons until 1994. Set in the Milky Way Galaxy, the first season takes place in 2364, featuring a new crew and a new starship, U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D.

Since its debut, Star Trek has developed into a cultural phenomenon with a range of spinoff television series and a number of feature films being released over the past five decades. The series explored a variety of societal themes and issues including a Utopian society, war and
peace, imperialism, economics, racial equality, religion, human rights, feminism, and the role of technology.

As the second releases in a series, the Perth Mint is releasing two incredible 1-oz., 99.9% pure silver proof coins, featuring Captain Jean-Luc Picard & U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. Both are issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu. These coins are available individually or as a two-coin set.

DESIGNS

The Captain Jean-Luc Picard coin’s reverse portrays a colour image of Sir Patrick Stewart OBE as Captain Jean-Luc Picard as he appeared in the television series Star Trek, against a representation of the U.S.S. Enterprise and the inscription CAPTAIN JEAN-LUC PICARD. The design also includes The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, and the coin’s weight and fineness.

The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D coin’s reverse portrays a colour image of the Enterprise flying through space as it appeared in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. The design includes the inscription STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION U.S.S. ENTERPRISE NCC-1701-D, The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, and the coin’s weight and fineness.
