Royal Mint UK engraver Laura Clancy studied art at the University of Wales College and earned a 3D Arts degree at Brighton University in 2000. Born in 1978, the Newport native lived and worked as a stewardess on a sailing ship and a shift supervisor at Starbuck’s before joining the Royal Mint in 2006 as an artist and engraver. Specializing in metalwork, ceramics, and plastics, Clancy’s expressive work is both contemporary and highly detailed. Her 2014 Remembrance Day coin design is one of Clancy’s many career highlights.
