Launch includes new innovative “sculpture” series honoring five pillars of Canadian wildlife
With the end of the year just around the corner, the Royal Canadian Mint has launched a wide variety of keepsakes to appeal to a range of collectors, from Canada’s renowned wildlife to unique anniversaries. One of the many standouts is a new series of five coins each featuring a meticulously crafted sculpture mounted on its surface to bring unprecedented dimension and look and feel to the design. The first $100 fine silver coin in the series features the mighty grizzly bear – and the rush for this collection is fierce!
A cornucopia of themes can be found in other coins offered as part of the November launch:
- The 2017 Special Edition Fine Silver Proof Set Canada 150: Our Home and Native Land, featuring a gold-plated version of the Special Edition Proof Dollar and frosted, fine silver versions of the My Canada, My Inspiration coins;

- The 2017 $20 fine silver coin – The Nutty Squirrel and the Mighty Oak, the Mint’s first coin featuring Canadian wood embellishments by Tony Bianco;
- The 2017 25-cent coin – Love My Cat and the 2017 25-cent coin – Love My Dog, each coin is carefully enclosed in unique packaging that is easily customized for a favorite pet;
- The 2017 $25 fine silver piedfort – 35th anniversary of Trivial Pursuit Game, featuring dazzling enamel to recreate the six colored wedges of a winning game piece by Mint engravers;
- Three 2017 Year of the Rooster coins by Three Degrees Creative Group: $10 fine silver coin, $250 fine silver coin, and $2,500 pure gold coin;
- The 2017 $20 fine silver coin – Landscape Illusion Snowy Owl by Julius T. Csotonyi;
