Legend Rare Coin Auctions’ Regency Auction IX to feature The Sunnywood Collection and duplicates, boasts numerous other numismatic treasures

LINCROFT, NJ – Legend Rare Coin Auctions is proud to announce The Regency Auction IX featuring The Sunnywood Collection, which will be held October 2nd at the PCGS Members Only Show at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. This carefully selected, 255 lot sale will be split into two sessions, with Session I kicking off at 5 PM PST / 8 PM EST, and Session II beginning at 6:15 PM PST / 9:15 PM EST. Session II will include both The Sunnywood/Simpson Collection of Toned Morgan Dollars, the world renowned collection that has been honored by PCGS as the “Best Exhibited Set” in 2009, as well as a collection of Sunnywood Duplicates, totaling 131 spectacular Morgan Dollars in all.

regency_9_0ctHighlighted by the amazing Eliasberg 1893-S and Norweb 1895-O dollars, the finest known 1892-O and 1903-S dollars (both ex Eliasberg), and a number of “monster-toned” MS67 and MS68 coins, the Sunnywood Collection includes this complete Registry set plus many equally beautiful duplicates. The goal of this endeavor was to show the numismatic community that Morgans can be collected with originality and color, and need not be dipped “blast white.” Specifically, the owner has sought to collect gem-quality Morgan dollars with colorful natural toning on the obverse.

Laura Sperber, Legend Auctions partner, “would like to thank our good friend and long time customer, Bob Simpson, for allowing Legend Rare Coin Auctions to sell his cherished Sunnywood/Simpson Collection of toned Morgan Dollars. It is with a heavy heart that Mr. Simpson decided to sell these magnificent coins. He has changed his numismatic collecting focus and believes these great coins should be in more deserving homes. It was at his request that we lot the duplicates after the main collection to make sure everyone had a chance to buy a piece of The Sunnywood Collection!”
