Stack’s Bowers Galleries announces that their May 2025 Showcase Auction, a 375-lot sale focused on United States federal coinage, is now open for pre-sale bidding at the auction link above. The sale will be hosted in and broadcast from the firm’s state-of-the-art Griffin Studios in Costa Mesa, California, on Tuesday, May 6. Anchoring the auction is a rare Mint State 1851 Augustus Humbert $50 “slug” produced by the United States Assay Office of Gold. Among the very finest graded by NGC at MS62, it is an important numismatic relic of the California Gold Rush.

“With the strength of the current coin market, we decided to add a showcase auction to our schedule and provide our clients with an additional opportunity to add great coins to their collections,” explained Stack’s Bowers Galleries President Brian Kendrella.

Further highlights include:

  • Lot 11020: A Superb Red-Brown 1916 Matte Proof Lincoln Cent.
  • Lot 11035: One of the finest graded 1913 Type II Buffalo Nickels.
  • Lot 11082: A Condition Census 1811 O-106 half dollar, graded MS65 by NGC.
  • Lot 11106: A superb MS-67 1933-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
