Counterfeits

The Numismatic Crime Information Center (NCIC) has received two reports involving the sale of Carson City dollars to a subject identified as Jacob Zulch out of Gratiot, Michigan and Port Huron, Michigan. The subject returned the coins, but the ones he returned were counterfeit.

NCIC is looking for additional dealers or eBay sellers who have done business with Zulch.

San Mateo Vehicle Burglary

Investigators with the San Mateo, California police department are investigating a vehicle burglary that occurred on August 19, 2019.

A witness observed a male subject break the back windshield of a vehicle and remove a backpack which contained coins, cash, checkbook, computer, and cell phone.

Van Nuys Vehicle Burglary

Dealer Mark Ostromecki, owner of The Coin & Stamp Connection, was the victim of a vehicle burglary after the Van Nuys Coin Show on 8/18/19. The victim stopped in a residential area to meet a friend and while inside the residence for approximately 45 minutes his vehicle was burglarized. The victim states that he may have been followed from the show.

  • 1909 VDB PCGS MS66 RB
  • 1860 Victoria Medal Large Silver Allen (India East Indian Railway Rajmahal)
  • Roll 26-S dimes G-XF
  • 30-31-D dimes
  • Approx. 200 Walking Liberty halves (raw)
  • 2 double row boxes coins

Most coins were tagged with pink/red, yellow, orange or green Avery color-coded labels.
